I certainly understand why the US Post Office appears to be on the way out, especially if all are operated as the Alto, NM PO is today. As I see it the price of a box there goes up constantly and we get less.

The employees (other than Vicky Autrey who has worked there for years and is very pleasant and helpful) are not helpful or pleasant and from what I have experienced do not care about anything but drawing a pay check. In the last 2 months several pieces of mail were returned to sender because they had both my PO box number plus my physical address (where I do not receive mail but other private companies do deliver packages). That is unacceptable. I work out of town and was forced to take a day off from work to pick up one package and am having trouble picking up a package that is in the post office now.

I came in late Friday night January 27th then called the post office during the 2 hours they were open on January 28th but whoever was there would not answer the phone. I drove to the post office and arrived less than 5 minutes after the lobby was closed, rang the bell several times and waited over 15 minutes while a postal worker was in the building but wound not answer the bell. Today my 90 year old mother drove about 20 minutes to the post office to pick up the package and the postal worker would not give her my package. She gave me a bunch of excuses, she did not know me or my mother, she did not have the card with my box number written on it.

She did not tell mother that if she had the card she could get the package. Mother has a key and could have gotten it out of the box. Again, unacceptable for a government employee. A supervisor should have a serious discussion with the 2 employees rather new to that office.

I cannot believe what lousy service these 2 provide. Totally unacceptable, to this point I only brought these concerns to their attention with no resolution.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

It's the senders responsibility to properly address mail. It's the recipients responsibility to provide the sender with the correct address.

It's the USPS' responsibility to deliver correctly addressed mail. Where in your scenario did the USPS fail in it's job?
